Cucumber Spritzer: A Mocktail for Any Occasion

The arrival of summer often means an increase in outdoor social events, most of which will likely include a cocktail (or three). While the occasional indulgence can be part of an overall healthy lifestyle,  alcoholic drinks cause an increased excretion of water and electrolytes from our bodies, which can leave skin looking parched, dry, and wrinkly. To avoid these beauty blunders, make your summer beverage choice a hydrating one.

This fizzy “mocktail” (ie. alcohol-free drink) is the perfect accompaniment to any hot occasion—and it’s so tasty, you won’t even miss the booze! To make this summer sipper extra nourishing we’ve added fabulous ingredients chock full of body loving nutrients. Coconut contains  electrolytes, which are ionic minerals required to help cells generate energy, contract muscles, maintain fluid balance, amongst other crucial functions.  Minerals that have electrolyte function include:

Sodium

Potassium

Calcium

Chlorine

Phosphate

Magnesium

If your electrolytes  get out of balance you may find yourself with a headache, nausea, or fatigue, in addition to looking less than your best, which is your body’s way of telling you to reach for a mineral-rich drink.

To round out this mocktail we’ve also added citrus, for even more  electrolytes; cucumbers, a veggie that is  chock full of minerals to stay balanced and help nourish our skin from the inside out; and peppermint for fresh hit of  vitamin C.

You can serve pitchers of this spritzer at picnics, barbecues, pool parties, or even when you’re camping! It’s the perfect summer party accessory that can be adapted to suit anyone’s tastes or preferences.
