"Love the Earth" Protein Smoothie Jar

Nowadays I am that annoying colleague that reminds the office to recycle. I’m the girl who gives her friends sideways glances when they use plastic water bottles. And I’m one of those “‘bag ladies” who brings her own totes to the grocery store.

Why do I do it? Because I believe that every action matters—they all add up. None of us are perfect, but any little sacrifice or inconvenience made for the planet has some scale of impact. Mother Nature has given you a lot, maybe today can be the day that you give something back.

How to Plant a Smoothie Jar

These flowers are not edible—you should not eat them or anything that they have touched. There are, however, edible flowers (but the ones pictured are not those).

I created this because it is beautiful—the smoothie portion is also delicious! This makes for a great centerpiece, decoration, or a meal for two! Eating plant-based, organic, sustainably sourced ingredients is one of my favorite ways to honor our planet.

Preparation

For Chocolate “Dirt

  1. In a medium bowl combine all of the “dirt” ingredients except for the flax meal.
  2. Place half of the mixture in a jar and top with two tablespoons of the flax meal.
  3. Repeat with the remaining mixture and flax meal to create an “earthy” layered look.

For Sweet “Grass

  1. Place the ingredients in a blender and mix until the smoothie is well processed.
  2. Carefully add it on top of the “dirt” in your jar.
  3. Leave some room at the top of your smoothie jar and place a flower arrangement of your choice on top.
