There's no question that cilantro is a polarizing herb. And it turns out genetics are to blame! However, if you are ok with cilantro (aka coriander, aka Chinese parsley), you are in luck! This controversial plant contains phytonutrients, flavonoids, and active phenolic compounds, which bind to heavy metals in order to flush them from your body. Given the overwhelming dislike of this leafy green, I am making it optional for this recipe. But don't worry, there are plenty of other healthy ingredients here—your body will be super fortified either way!
Plant-Based Protein Powder
- Starting with the water, place all of your ingredients in a blender.
- Set some mango aside to top off the finished smoothie.
- Purée until smooth.
- Pour into a bowl and top with mango and chia seeds, if desired.
