Carry-on Essentials for a Long Flight

The time has come for your highly anticipated vacation!

You’ve spent weeks planning and researching your destination, finding the best places to eat and the most photo-worthy places to visit. The only thing standing between you and some much needed respite is the dreaded plane ride. Hours of stagnation and tiny cramped quarters in the air can leave you feeling lethargic and low on energy. Packing strategic carry on items can make the world of a difference. Here is a list of products that always make it into my carry on bag. Happy travels!

Be Nourished

Eating airplane food never leaves me feeling satisfied or nourished. That, combined with the fact that hunger strikes every few hours, means packing my own healthy snacks is a necessity.

ALOHA protein bars are organic, dairy AND gluten-free. With 14g of plant-based protein, I’m getting the nutrition my body needs plus the bars taste great! *My personal favorite is mocha flavor.

Hydration is key! Did you know that a plane’s filtered, ultra-low-humidity air can dry out your airways? So while it’s tempting to go for that cocktail, opt for water or a warm tea like ALOHA’s Clean Green Tea, which helps detoxify and purify your body.

Be Comfortable

Scarf: I choose a long, soft scarf that has multiple uses; Neck warmer, blanket and/or pillow.

Eye Mask: Darkness is essential when it’s time to get some shut eye. Especially if you are sitting next to that one person who loves to keep the window shade open at all times.

Noise canceling headphones: They keep unwanted sounds from reaching your ears. Silence is golden when you’re surrounded by 250+ people!

Be Entertained

Even though many flights offer free inflight wi-fi and entertainment, I like to use the time to disconnect and journal. The week leading up to a trip is typically chaotic with last minute preparation. Journaling helps me process any straggling emotions and start my trip on a blank slate. When all my thoughts have found their way to paper, I turn to catching up on neglected books or watching new movies.

Be Rejuvenated

The longer the flight, the more grimy I feel once it’s over. Keeping a small selection of toiletries allows me to wash up easily before leaving the airport. I want to look and feel vibrant for my final destination!
