Easy Superfood Burrito + Healthy Cinco de Mayo Swaps

As a native San Franciscan, I take my burritos very seriously. A fully-loaded NorCal burrito is an epic meal that you can’t really get anywhere else—not even in Mexico (which makes sense since burritos are technically an American invention). However, with sour cream, white flour tortillas, cheese, and a pound of guacamole, I wouldn’t be able to healthily get my weekly burrito fix in if I didn’t make a few adjustments.

Try our recipe and make one or more of the swaps below for a super burrito that is actually good for you!

  • 1 Healthy Tortilla</u>: Swap out a white tortilla with a gluten-free option or use a collard leaf!
  • 1/2 to 1 cup Healthy Filling: Get creative! We like a mixture of cauliflower rice, bell peppers, spinach, black beans.
  • Superfood Avocado Salsa
  • 1 cup sliced cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 of a ripe avocado
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/4 cup chopped sweet onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 pack ALOHA Daily Good Greens
  • Toppings: Plain yogurt, mashed avocado, hot sauce, cilantro

  1. Make your superfood avocado salsa by chopping up the tomatoes, avocado, onion, and cilantro.
  2. Mix in a medium bowl with lime juice and ALOHA Daily Good Greens and set aside.
  3. Prep any of your filling ingredients.
  4. You can sauté your protein and veggies with 2 teaspoons coconut oil, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1 teaspoon chili powder, and salt to taste, or you can throw them in raw if you are in a hurry (Cook any meat if you are using it, of course).
  5. Assemble in the center of your burrito, add a few scoops of superfood salsa, then fold the horizontal sides in, and roll it up.
  6. Top with more avocado, Greek yogurt, or anything else and enjoy!
